Building Hawaii's Future: Expanding Pre-K Access Statewide

ABSTRACT

Hawai'i’s future begins with its youngest learners, and the Hawai'i School Facilities Authority (SFA) is taking bold steps to ensure every child has access to quality early education. A groundbreaking initiative is underway to expand prekindergarten access statewide, and MKThink is at the forefront of this effort. By strategically identifying the most impactful locations for new, scalable pre-K campuses, the program aims to serve 80% of eligible children in each community. Through the development of modular, sustainable facility designs that can be rapidly deployed, SFA is not only accelerating the construction process but also setting new standards for educational environments across the state. This initiative prioritizes the highest-need areas, creating a blueprint for long-term growth and equity in early childhood education. Through this project, Hawai'i is paving the way for a brighter future, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed from the very start.
